2 Timothy 3:16, in the New American Standard Bible, says
“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.”
When we read that the Word is inspired, we typically think of God putting the words into the minds of the writers. But, the New International Version says
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
When I teach a class on respiratory protection, I emphasize that our lungs are an “exteral organ.” That is, when you breathe in vapors and gases, they go straight to the lungs and are rapidly absorbed into the blood stream. “Inspire” means to inhale, or breathe in.
God did more than just give the Word to His messengers, He breathed them straight into our hearts (Hebrews 10:16).
He is awesome!!
